Six-belted Clearwing by Tim Norriss    Six-belted Clearwing distribution

The Six-belted Clearwing occurs in grassy swards in areas of chalk or limestone on downland, coastal grasslands and even roadside verges.  The larvae feed on Common Bird’s-foot-trefoil and Kidney Vetch.  The adults are active by day but are rarely seen.  They are most often detected by the use of lures containing synthetic sex pheromones.
