The Pink-barred Sallow occurs in broadleaved woodlands and
heathland where there are willows and sallows. Initially the
larvae feed on the catkins of sallows and poplars and later on
herbaceous plants such as docks. The adults’ bright colours
become a cryptic camouflage against the yellowing leaves of
autumn.
